Title: Puppy Proofing your home and your self

pgs: 2
Puppy Proofing your home and your self
L: Puppy proofing has to be more thorough then baby proofing because puppies can escape easier.
I: they can also knock down baby gates
L: many baby toys and accessories cannot be used for puppies seeing that they were not made sturdy enough to handle a puppy
I: most baby gates can hold a puppies weight.
L: puppies chew, so you need to place all electrical cords, plastics, plants and anything that is small enough to be swallowed out of your puppies reach.
I: this include trash cans seeing that they will knock them over and begin to eat whatever they can get your paws on, leaving you to open their mouths and grab what they are chewing out.(i experienced this)
L: to prevent your puppy from running away from you while they are outside keep them on leash so you can control them better.
I: this is better then having them running around all crazily leaving them to destroy everything that they touch.
L: a another good way to help with puppy proofing your house is to set boundaries in your home and to teach them how to deal with new situations
I: exposure so they don't react surprised or scared in a new situation.
L: if your puppy looks for you to have a good time then they will be less willing to go off on their own which will lead to trouble.
I: Have the puppy think of you as their mommy.
Title: Ear Care for Dogs
Pgs: 1
L: because of the design of the inner workings of a dogs ear, it is easy for parasites, bacteria and yeast to hide and thrive in them.
I: Simple cleaning methods is to clean them with a paper towel and warm water.
L: Infections can be caused by trapped debris.
I: Again simple cleaning gets rid of this.
L: Inner-ear skin is delicate so take care to not damage anything in your dogs ear.
I: never clean your dogs ears with q tips.
L: frequent bathing and swimming can lead to irritation and infections.
I: you can place cottons balls in your dogs ear to catch any unwanted water that can enter your dogs ears.
L: If your dog is prone to infections you can place ear drying solution to evaporate any water trapped inside
I: always use store bought ear cleaners for dogs, nothing that is made for humans
Title: How to walk your dog on a loose leash
Pg: 2
L: leash pulling can damage a dogs windpipe permanently.
I: leash pulling is both dangerous for the owner and the dog
L: If you are constantly pulling on your dog they will be constantly pulling back.
I: leather leashes are easier on your hands if you do have to pull back on the leash.
L: if your dog starts to get distracted change the direction that you are walking in so you can get his attention back.
I: don't let walking become a boring thing to do
L: if you teach your dog that sticking by your side is fun and exciting, your pup will be more willing to loose leash walk with you.
I: trust and a bond with your puppy is also important, if your dog doesn't like you she wont listen to you.
